2022/2023 BENIN REPUBLIC FOOTBALL LEAGUE SEASON: WE WILL BE READY FOR THE NEW SEASON - coach Offor

With the new League season in Benin Republic set to kick on the 24th of September 2022, the manager of Djeffa Football Club and Nigeria-born soccer tactician, Paul Offor, says a lot of efforts are being made to put out a quality team that will be able to compete.

Coach Paul in an interview with newsmen said the club has paid detailed attention to recruitment to ensure that only quality players are brought in to improve the side.
According to him, Djeffa FC has had to sign 16 players after retaining nine players from the previous campaign, a situation he said slowed down the preparation for the season.

On progressing players from the Djeffa FC academy..
Coach Paul maintained that Djeffa FC has restructured its academy and is now more committed to the development and progression of young players.
He stressed that Djeffa FC under his watch aims to progress two or three players from the academy to the main team every season.

"We are not 100% ready but we'll be ready. At this stage of pre-season, we should be playing friendlies to develop tactics but the recruitment has been slow ,I can't say the fault is that of the management because I see a whole lot of effort on the part of the management to get us everything we need.

At Djeffa FC, we don't just sign players for signing sake, it's one thing to sign a player it's another thing to sign quality , our aim is to sign players with quality as well as character to help the team and luckily we made some good progress last week because we were able to get players in some key positions and we now just need a strike to be able to finish our attack and score goals.

Djeffa FC is a team in transition, this is because I met good players here but we have to sign close to sixteen players and It hasn't been easy to get 16 quality players at the same time blending with the existing nine. However we're working assiduously to ensure that we have the kind of team that will make Djeffa FC fans proud.
He added " We an ambitious side, we have set a target for ourselves that we want to achieve also the management has set a target for us and we're working towards it.

We have also decided to invest more in our academy to make sure we can progress players. one major part of my contract is to progress players and I'm very happy that this season we have a very young player from the academy who's ready to make the step up.

The goal every season is for us to be able to progress at least two or three players into the main team but we have to put in the work while making sure that we stay competitive as a team.
