Friedel: Lloris will not leave Tottenham for Manchester United

Lloris will not leave Tottenham for Manchester United, declares Friedel

Tottenham should not worry about the possibility of losing captain Hugo Lloris to Manchester United, says Brad Friedel.

The American, who was supplanted as Spurs' No.1 by the Frenchman during the 2012-13 season, does not believe that his old team-mate is looking to leave White Hart Lane despite his stated desire to play Champions League football.

Lloris has been linked with United as a potential successor to David de Gea, courted by Real Madrid, but the Red Devils have already signed Sergio Romero this summer and Friedel is unconcerned about the 28-year-old's future.

"For me, personally, I don't foresee that transfer even remotely starting up," he told the Daily Express.

"Hugo is a Tottenham player, he is the Tottenham captain and he will be a Tottenham player and I don't see that changing. I don't even think we need to discuss that possibility and I mean that sincerely."
