Lewis Hamilton pens new £640,000 a week deal

Hamilton, sporting a new pair of sunglasses, answers questions from the media on Wednesday

Lewis Hamilton has become the highest paid British sportsman in history by signing a £100million contract to stay at Mercedes for three more years.

The deal was announced on Wednesday in Monaco, the tax haven home of the Formula One world champion and venue for Sunday's grand prix.
But Hamilton's £100m from Mercedes – a figure that includes potential bonuses – represents only the beginning of Hamilton's future mega-riches. It is understood he retained the freedom to do personal endorsements with companies in and outside the sport, meaning he could more than double his earnings.
