Nigerians Abroad: Ameobi, Anichebe, Chibuike, Ujah on target
The quartet found the back of the net for their respective clubs in Europe as Nigerians gave a good account of themselves over the weekend
| ENGLAND |
Sammy Ameobi was on target for Newcastle United in their 2-1 away victory against Tottenham Hotspur in an English Premier League game on Sunday afternoon. The former Flying Eagles invitee replaced Gabriel Obertan in the second half and equalized for the Magpies before Ayoze Perez sealed the winner for the visitors. It was his first league goal of the season.
Victor Anichebe scored his first league goal as West Bromwich Albion were held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace. The Nigerian replaced Stephane Sessegnon and justified his introduction with his 51st minute strike. The game was his fourth of the season.
Victor Moses got a starter’s shirt as Stoke City bowed 1-0 to Southampton. He gave a very good account of himself before making way for Oussama Assaidi with less than 12 minutes to the end of the encounter. The game was his seventh in the English Premier League but is yet to score.
Mikel Obi came on as a second half substitute in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw at Manchester United. The Blues were a goal up courtesy of Didier Drogba's header before the Red Devils shared the spoils with the table toppers via a late strike from Robin Van Persie. Obi replaced Oscar in the 67th minute for his sixth game of the season.

Hope Akpan was on from start to finish for Reading in their 3-0 thumping of Blackpool. The one-cap Super Eagles player boasts of nine games in the English Championship this season with no goals.

Vincent Enyeama was in goal for Lille as they lost 2-0 to Rennes in a Ligue 1 fixture over the weekend. The Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper is yet to miss a game this season for the French team and has let in eight goals in 11 appearances.
Elderson Echiejile was on parade for AS Monaco in their 3-1 away win at Bastia. The Nigerian who was making his second appearance for the Principality team was on from start to finish.

Bartholomew Ogbeche played a part in Cambuur’s 1-0 home loss to Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie. He was booked in the 42nd minute of the encounter as he could not increase his goal tally of the season.
Abiola Dauda played for 90 minutes in his side’s 2-2 draw against NAC Breda. Dauda has scored six goals in nine appearances.

John Chibuike was on target for Gaziantepspor in their 4-4 away draw at Trabzonspor in the Turkish topflight on Sunday. His 64th minute strike gave his side a 4-2 advantage before the hosts fought back in the closing stages of the game courtesy of strikes from Sefa Yilmaz and Oscar Cardozo. Before his strike, he provided an assist for Erdem Sen. He was replaced in the 80th minute of the encounter by Gilles Binya.
Raheem Lawal was a second half substitute for Ibrahim Sissoko in Eskisehirspor's 4-2 defeat to Idmanyurdu. First half strikes from Oemer Sismanoglu and Erkan Zengin had put them in the driver’s seat before the hosts powered back with Oktay Delibalta's brace leading the charge. Lawal was cautioned in the 86th minute of the encounter.
Godfrey Oboabona played for 90minutes in Rizespor’s 1-0 away win at Sivasspor in the Turkish topflight. The game was his fourth of the season. John Utaka also featured for the entire duration of the encounter as he fired blank.

Chinedu Obasi was dressed in Schalke 04’s 1-0 defeat at Bayern Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga. Sydney Sam replaced Obasi in the 56th minute as Roberto Di Matteo’s men failed to rescue a point away from home.
Anthony Ujah was on target for Cologne in their away victory at Werder Bremen. The Nigerian came on for Daniel Halfar in the 58th minute and became an instant hit as he scored the winner for his team. He boasts of three goals in six appearances for his side this season.

Ikechukwu Uche featured for Villarreal in their 2-1 defeat at Sevilla. The Yellow Submarine forward fired blanks in the encounter and he was replaced by Luciano Vietto in the 66th minute. Uche has scored three goals this season for his club.
Ramon Azeez played for Almeria but made way in the second half for Thievy Bifouma as Almeria bowed 1-0 at home to Athletic Bilbao. The Super Eagles midfielder has played seven times this season for the Spanish team.
Success Isaac was on parade for Granada as they forced Eibar to a 1-1 draw away in the Spanish topflight. The Flying Eagles forward who has tasted action four times this season was replaced by Youssef El Arabi in the 66th minute. He has a goal to his credit this season in La Liga.

Joel Obi played for Inter Milan in their 1-0 away win against Cesena. Obi who made his third appearance for the former Serie A champions was replaced by Ibrahima Mbaye in the 69th minute.
Ogenyi Onazi came on for Lucas Biglia in Lazio’s 2-1 home win against Torino. He was introduced in the 82nd minute for his fifth game for the Rome based outfit.
