Cameroon battle Nigeria in Africa Women Championship final

Cameroon will face Nigeria in the final of the 2014 African Women Championship in Namibia billed for the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek on Saturday.

Coach Ngachu Enow’s side edged out Cote d’ivoire 2-1 after extra-time in the second semi-final game played on Wednesday night with captain Christine Manie smashing the winner in the 118th minute after regulation time scores stood at 1-1.

The central defender headed in from a corner-kick to send her side to their first ever Fifa Women’s World Cup.

Nigeria defeated Cameroon 5-0 in the final of the 2004 edition staged in South Africa with Perpetua Nkwocha grabbing four goals in the one-sided encounter while the last goal was from Vera Okolo.
