Real Madrid only offered Di Maria €1.5m payrise, says father

Angel Di Maria's father has hit out at Real Madrid in the wake of the Argentina international's transfer to Manchester United and has laughed off suggestions that the Champions League holders had offered the winger an annual salary of €6 million.



The 26-year-old left Madrid for United in a deal worth €75m earlier this week after he turned down an offer to extend his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, which was reportedly worth €6m a year.

However, Miguel Di Maria has stressed that his son never felt fully appreciated at the club - something that he claims is reflected by their offer of a €1.5m payrise.

In a video currently trending on social media, Chief Emami said his advice was based purely on practical and economic reasons that could have affected the timely and cost-effective completion of the project.
