Chris Giwa assumes duty as new NFF President
Newly elected President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chris Giwa after defeating former Vice President Mike Umeh, assumed duty at the NFF Secretariat on Wednesday.
Giwa who won the election organised by the Biambo-led Electoral Committee in a Congress held at the Chida Hotel, Abuja polled 27 votes to defeat his challenger former vice president Mike Umeh who got two votes in an election where 29 out of 44 members participated in the voting exercise.
Other members of the newly installed 11-man executive board who resumed alongside Giwa for an official meeting with the staff of the Federation include Obinna Ogba, Effiong Johnson, Felix Obuah and Kogi State FA chairman Yahaya Adama.
In a brief media address at the Glass House at his assumption of office on Wednesday, the properitor of Nigeria Professional Football League club Giwa FC promised to "work in harmony as well as begin reconciliatory moves with aggrieved factions in the nation's football family to move the game forward".
