British halfpipe skier Rowan Cheshire spent last night in hospital after these attritional Winter Games ensnared their first British casualty of note.
The 18-year-old from Stoke was knocked unconscious when she fell heavily on her face during a training run at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park. Cheshire is due to compete on Thursday but her participation is now in jeopardy. The session she was taking part in had been postponed from Saturday because temperatures had topped 15C. Snowboarders had previously complained about the shape and condition of the halfpipe, prompting last-minute changes.
