But the mood soon changed, with both Fergie and Hucknall looking unimpressed after Darren Bent's heart-wrenching equaliser in the dying moments.
Manager David Moyes cut a similar figure on the touchline after the final whistle, but insists his side completely deserved to win the game.
'They [Fulham] didn’t deserve it,' he told Sky Sports. 'It’s been like that quite often this season, where we’ve not got an early goal, ended up chasing game, we totally deserved it, we deserved to win the game and get the three points.'
