Michael Carrick has softened the blow of his injury setback by agreeing a new contract extension with Manchester United.
After weeks of talks between both parties an agreement is now in place, with Old Trafford chiefs hopeful of announcing the deal by the end of the week.
Carrick's extension will see the England midfielder commit his future to United for the next two-and-a-half years, with an option for an additional 12 months.
